The statement piece will draw your eye and hold your attention being the focal point of the space. Having an interesting point of interest in your room is as simple as selecting a unique item of furniture. Another tip to remember is, not having too many points of interest, otherwise, it all gets lost and nothing is appreciated. In essence the piece of furniture you select to be the leading lady should grab the attention of those entering the room. It doesn’t mean it has to be colourful or excessive, or OTT. It just needs to be well presented.
There are few ways you can help your statement piece; you can set it apart from other items in the room, ‘isolate’ it, so that in being separated from other items there is a spotlight around it. You could draw the eye to your statement piece in the way you style it, the objects on and around it will draw your eye to it.
And then, of course, when you've put your heart into creating your own custom furniture statement piece, it is, by its’ very nature, just that, A Statement Piece. It’s design, it’s lines, the way it’s constructed asks you to look at it. And of late, here at Wildwood designs, we've had a number of calls for statement pieces; bespoke Australian hardwood coffee tables to be exact; and I have to say that Garth and the boys have been outstanding in delivering our clients’ desires.
Let me show you a recent coffee table statement piece.
Created with a blackbutt burl, which highlights the trees stress acquired features (see ‘What IS a Burl?’) for the table top, a waterfall affect for one leg, our clean line black ‘Ellis’ design for the other leg, this stunning coffee table is not only contemporary but classic. AND most definitely a 'Statement Piece'.
Pretty nice huh? We certainly think so, hope you do too.
