Console Hall Table - Camphor Laurel
Camphor Laurel console/hall/sofa table with custom white wash finish.
Camphor Laurel was introduced to Australia in the early 1820s. It was used as windbreaks and as a measure to stop soil erosion. A hardwood native to China, Japan and South East Asia, it’s now found in coastal NSW. It features many colours, from nearly white, dark browns and red with an interlocked grain, making it interesting to work with. It has moth repellent properties and has been traditionally used for blanket boxes.
Camphor extracted from the Camphor Laurel tree has been used for centuries as a spice in cooking, an ingredient of incense, and a medicine. It’s also an insect repellent and a flea-killing substance.
Wildwood Designs Camphor Laurel is sourced from Northern NSW, where it's milled and dried in large slabs.
